We're homeowners!
What an eventful last few days. The day of the closing, we went to the house to meet our realtor for a final walk through. He called to say he was going to be running late - something about having to kill a copperhead and his 9 week old having a goose egg on his forehead.
We got off to a bad start - at first glance, the oven and HVAC appeared to not be working. there was lots of miss communication between the owner of the house - the seller's realtor - our realtor and the inspector. It looked like some minor fixes hadn't been completed after THREE inspections. What was supposed to be a thirty minute walk through turned into 3 hours of us stomping around with our arms crossed and shaking our heads. Thankfully though, the owner of the house showed up and called his contractor up to walk us through everything and show that yes everything had been fixed and we needed to calm down. So off we went to close and celebrate with chicken salad sandwiches and a bottle of champagne. Tres bon!
Unfortunately (but still nice), we didn't get to hang out in the house this weekend - we went down to St. Simon's for a mini family spring break. Luci got to see the ocean for the first time, we played lots of bocce and I rode a trike (I need one).
Now we are back home finalizing our moving homes and listening to Delilah. I didn't get into grad school - bum out. Time for some soul searchin. I'm thinking of trying again next year but till then I want to change.
